I need an idea, I’m going around to local business to market and I want them to remember me. I was thinking about taking cookies or something like that and I need some ideas


We would really need to know what business you are in to come up with a good answer. But you’re on the right track – people are far more receptive to sales calls when you come bearing gifts. A box of Godiva chocolates, taking your contact to lunch, bringing in lunch for the employees (pizzas, etc.) are some other ideas you could try.
Cookies are a great idea, I actually helped a client do something similar once but we went to a specialty cookie shop which offered a variety of shapes and drew his logo in the frosting – they didn’t taste half-bad either. Personally when I am forced to make a sales call (usually in the morning) I take donuts. But those gestures do leave an impression – you’re on the right track.
Depending on the specifics of your market you might want to sponsor a networking event for small business owners, the details are too elaborate to go into here but the cost can be minimal if you work it properly – this is a method I currently employ, but it suits my market better than it would most peoples.
I have had a business for 6 years and when I started. I went door to door with flyer’s to local businesses and offices. This seems to be a tactic that gets instant results and it cost next to nothing. Keep passing out flyer’s until you get a lead. On your flyer mention discounts or offer something free. Take a brochure, catalog anything that shows what your offering. Also, depending on what your offering. Consider doing a open house in the evening at a local venue and then pass out invitations the day of the event to local businesses so they can stop in after work. Like a happy hour theme. These are very positive things that have worked wonders for my business and I’ve met lots of people in my community along the way. Good Luck!!!!
Cookies are a nice gesture, but perhaps something more in line with your business would make them remember you. You don’t say what your business is, but maybe select a few businesses with many employees and do a drawing giveaway for a free service or product for one person. Put your best foot forward, and if that person is pleased, word of mouth will get around to his/her co-workers.
