Is It Illegal To Copy And Business Idea Or Business Model?

I see posibilities to apply business models/ideas from start ups in the US to my country, is this illegal?
I mean they dont have a presence in my country and I wont copy their brand but try to do a similar business but in my local market and hopefully emulate the results.

  • Just a dude:

Actually, most of the business are sharing almost the same model. Give and take. Give whatever the customer wants then in return Take something back – in our world is money.
You said you have seen something good and want to do it, from my point of view is call research or get reference. Since no two business are exactly the same, just like McDonald and Burger King both sell burgers but very different. And their business idea may be similar and the way they deliver their food is just alike, but their business revenue is very different.
From that point it is all about marketing strategy.
So sharing some other ideas from others is a very good move, because you can never always be the first one to think of “THE” first idea. Now go ahead and make your move.

Unless the actual method of business is patented you have free range. Most business models are based on standard practices so you are likely to not have a problem unless you use their proprietary processes.
    Good luck
